OUR STORY

The brotherhood started back in the summer 2014 when Joe invited Gunnar out to Minnesota to run a goalies-only clinic with 100+ goalies.

The two bonded over their passions for helping others unleash their talents which quickly expanded the footprint of goalie clinics across the country.

It was in 2017-2018 that families started requesting drills and virtual coaching. These demands sparked an idea to build a training app specific for goalies that would have unique drills but that could also use technology to track & record shot placement. Now these were before the days before YouTube really took off.

In early 2019; a passion project was birthed. A new way for lacrosse parents, goalies, and coaches to identify a goalie's weaknesses and give them tools to improve. Crease Pro was experiencing small, yet positive growth in downloads from goalies across the country as the company ramped its content creation.

However, in March 2020; the world was put on pause which put the company on ice. No more coaching. No more competition, meant no more need for ball-tracking technology.

About 6-9 months into COVID; something miraculous happen. Players started reaching out, asking for at home workouts and virtual zoom sessions. The wheels starting spinning.. The two challenged each other to go "ALL-IN" and build "365 day digital coach in an athlete's pocket."

Joe and Gunnar went after some of the most credible experts at each position to build out a programmatic approach to training; that not only gave athletes a specific routine BUT that was customed to an athlete's environment, equipment, skill, age, and gender. Assigning reps, sets, and a specific flow from start to finish.

Greg Gurenlian to lead the faceoff programming, Taylor Cummings to lead all of the women's programming, and Jay Dyer to build the fitness training; were among the first to join the Crease Pro team. Fast forward through 2021; Crease Pro teamed up with Connor Kelly, BJ Grill and Tee Jones (The Speed System) to build an all-in-one platform for on & off field training.

In 2022, Joe; a former college coach, identified the need to evolve the company's go-to-market strategy to target coaches at the high school, high school club, and universities level versus marketing an app solely for players to download.  The team offered a 6-month pilot to 12 programs ranging from youth to Division 2. This was the best thing that could happen for Crease Pro!

So many "problematic" issues found and uses cases that could be solved for at the team level.

Things like...

  1.  How can we increase player engagement outside of practice?

  2. Hold players more accountable to activity?

  3. Track mood and give athletes a way to improve their physical, mental & emotional health?

Heading into the back half of 2024, Crease is now working with 40+ organizations across the country, over 2,500+ athletes on the platform, and has an exclusive training partnership with the MCLA.

There is so much work still to be done to support athletes and coaches

  • Create Goals,

  • Track Performance,

  • Deliver high quality training, and

  • Improve engagement, satisfaction & culture of a program.
